Emily Stewart

Emily Steward is the Associate Director at CoNorth, where she supports community-led housing solutions through cooperative ownership. She has fifteen years of experience in cooperative development, lending, and grassroots organizing. 

Before joining CoNorth, Emily co-founded BreadHive, a successful worker cooperative in Buffalo, NY, where she led business planning, fundraising, and operations - that was incubated in a housing cooperative. She has also worked as a community organizer, building partnerships and growing nonprofit programs focused on social justice.

Emily is passionate about cooperative ownership models of all kinds. She holds a Master’s degree in Community Development from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College.
