Cory Haala

Cory Haala is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and the author of the 2026 book When Democrats Won the Heartland: Progressive Populism in the Age of Reagan, 1978-1992. A resident of Crystal (and former member of Fair State Brewing Cooperative), he has published chapters about progressive organizing for fairer farm and trade policy in the 1980s and 90s, and his ongoing research includes work on grassroots political organizing done around cooperative principles, including in energy and agriculture in the early 1980s.
